Kale : Is Life

Lauren Baffa on

Drum roll please. . .introducing your new snack obsession. . .kale chips!!! Okay confession time, I live off of snacks. I’m always munching on something, which is why I am always on the hunt for healthy snacking options (or else I’ll end up eating Hot Cheetos allllllll day, anyone with me?). One of my major weaknesses is crunchy things, which is why I am so into these Kale Chips. They are so quick to make, only 10 minutes to prepare (even I can commit to that) anddddd you can keep them on hand to munch on throughout the week! So now that you are entirely convinced, let me convince you further by going through the wonderful health benefits. . .

-packed with vitamin K, C, B6, E, B2
-lots of fiber that aids in digestion
-omega- 3 fats (this helps fight arthritis, asthma and autoimmune disorders)
-zero fat. . .can I get an amen?
-helps lower cholesterol levels
-bonus points for calcium intake

I know it’s hard to believe that Kale is this awesome. Now it’s time to broaden your food horizons and think of Kale outside the realm of salads, difficult I know, but worth it. Let’s go over what you’ll need to make this snack

-Organic Kale

-Avocado Oil or Coconut Oil

-Salt to taste

-Cayenne Pepper

-Optional Fresh Parmesan

Once you’ve got all the fresh organic ingredients from your locally sourced farmers market (kind of a joke, kind of not). It’s time to get down to business. . .

-Preheat oven to 350 degrees

-rip off medium pieces of kale from the stem

-gently massage avocado or coconut oil on kale (not too much oil)

-lightly add salt, cayenne pepper, and turmeric (try sprinkling it in your hand first to control the amount because the Kale absorbs all of those flavors!)

-bake for 10 minutes, or until a few edges are browned

-throw kale in a bowl and sprinkle parmesan cheese, then serve to all your friends!

-or save for later to munch on when you are feeling those Hot Cheeto cravings like me

P.S. What the Kale?! (you’re welcome. . .you know you were thinking it)
